So here we are 2017 and we are filled with information. Good information, bad information, useful information, false information. Everywhere, you go, you are confronted by people sharing information with you, giving you their words of wisdom and being super helpful. However, how do you separate the wheat from the chaff?
Today, we are living in a society where people are complaining about information overload, and are using this as an excuse for not achieving goals or taking the next step to success. People are literally bitching about the fact that they cannot set up an Amazon store, because they don’t know who is providing the correct information online; or they are complaining about the fact that they don’t know which social media platforms to use, because, this person told them this, or that person told them that. So they have decided to stay confused and not do anything at all.
However, there is a simple solution to your dilemma – GET FOCUSED!
There are so many people providing well-meaning advice. But, before you venture out and listen to hours of podcasts and watch hundreds of YouTube clips, ask yourself this question?
WHAT DO I WANT TO ACHIEVE?
The answer to that question should be as specific as possible. So, let’s use “Learning how to use Amazon for your business” as an example.
There are 1000s of clips of people speaking about how they set up their online store. But, if you are new to the game and do not know where to turn, ask yourself these questions?
- What product are you selling?
- Who, what and where is my market?
- Who have I seen do it before?
- Did they reference other people that they learned from?
Find a person who is willing to share their experience and also who you have seen delivered the type of results you are trying to achieve at this precise moment and time.
Also, stop being GREEDY. Greed and hunger are two different things. The reason you are overwhelmed is simply that you think everyone is achieving success and you are not. 9 times out of 10 that is not true. They are working and building just like you.
Patience and persistence are key. Keep trying to learn and grow. You will get knocked back, but that is just part of the process.
No-one is willing to invest in you if you are not willing to invest in yourself.
Invest in yourself. The main reason you are feeling the pressure of information overload is that you are being CHEAP. You do not want to pay for classes or workshops. Which is fine. However, YouTube can initially act as study notes for an exam. However, we all know that study-notes only provides and overview. Nothing beats intense studying and research before applying your knowledge to the test and using those notes as support.
In conclusion, please, stop whining about content overload and start getting focused on what you want to achieve and focus on those who seem to be achieving what you are achieving today.
